Kitchen Renovation [day 12]

The following task was leveling the wall by applying the mortar on the wall. 3 men were doing the job; the contractor's son, a younger manor and an old manor. The ingredient for the mortar were Portland cement, water and sand.

These photos were taken during morning break.

<- The floor was still bare.

The older manor was in-charged of this wall. He left the top of the wall without mortar. (The following day, my mother asked him about it. He said the wall would not be level if applying mortar on the whole wall.)

While the younger one pasted the mortar on the wall with window.

Vise versa, the whole wall including the narrow edge (apart from the window) was mortared.

The wall next to it remains the same.

What is this ?

They left for lunch quite late (almost 2pm) but unexpectedly, they never came back after that. ???!!! That was giving us a lot of puzzles. Besides, I did not see much difference in the kitchen comparing to before the break.

Since the backyard was free in the afternoon, I took the opportunity to

clean the old wash basin which was abandoned on the ground.

<- Can you see the dirt trapped under the drain?

Eeeewwww... It is very disgusting!

* Earlier, I thought they will mortar the whole kitchen, the wall (til the top) inclusive the floor. Their next step would be tiling the wall. Hence, that also means that they did finish their task for the day and just have to left the mortar to get dry and harden.
