Toilet Tiling - Part 3

Sunday is a free day.

After having dinner yesterday, me, my eldest brother, my sister and my mother were discussing about the piping in the new toilet. It started after my sister noticed that the piping hole for the clean water to flow into the toilet had been sealed. Besides, a piping hole for the washing machine is too high and would be a problem for placing back the basin (which is at the other side of the wall). My sister suggested to move the piping much higher than its original place; to prevent it from getting dirty easily especially with mold. Hence, we decided to ask the constructor if they can make some new piping holes.

~~~ Day 5 (21 March 2011)~~~
Today, the constructor started the tiling. First, they measured the wall and drew some lines. After that, they started tiling the wall facing the toilet door. The work seems moving very slowly. At the beginning, they put mortar (combination of Portland cement and water) on the wall, then stick the tiles on wall. They had problem with this method. Too much mortar was put on the wall causing the mortar drooling on top of the tiles. Then, they put the mortar on the tiles then stick on the empty wall instead.
Marking on the wall
After I woke up, my mother was telling me that she had seek a plumber to advise on the piping. He will come and fix the hole for the washing machine. However, he is not advising to place the pipe higher. At around 10AM, the plumber came with his men and equipment. Without any further confirmation, they drilled a hole on the wall. Then, another one below it!!! Everyone else was shocked. The plumber said the first hole was too high.. should make it a little lower.
The earlier hole made for washing machine, the 2nd one and unexpected one !!!
That is not the ending. We were seeking advise on higher piping and the plumber said it is not wise. So, we just agreed and would like to keep the original piping line... BUT the plumber just drilled another hole on the wall without questioning nor any approval!!!! None of use knew that he was planning to drill THAT hole. He also never tell my mother earlier before doing so. Actually, I am not so happy with all the mess around and how my mother was handling the matter. She told the plumber that we would like to piping line same as before dismantling them. However, they never see how it was before!!! We should have a piping plan for their reference. The hole was made at a corner of the room. The plumber said this would make the piping looks better. "Come-on!" Nobody expected any drilling. However, he was stopped because the sewage pipe in between the source water pipe and the new hole.
Ugly hole are left unattended outside the toilet.
Two unwanted holes had been made!!! IS IT THE ENDING ?
NO..!!!! Another hole is drilled below the original piping hole. The OLD MAN is trying to tear down the whole toilet !!!! He claimed that this new hole is made at same height as the new piping hole made for washing machine. He never really measure the height. He just relatively measure with his eyes. Luckily or unluckily, that is the last hole drilled and they left. After they left, someone had measured the height of both holes. Not exactly same height!!! I was quite mad regarding the holes made and the actions the crazy plumber took without asking our opinion.
Additional hole is made just below the original piping hole.
After the hilarious scene. The tiling work continued. It had been a hard day; they left for home later than 5pm. And yet, only one side of the wall is tiled.
I am sorry for you but it is quite a funny story.. I imagine this plumber holding the drill.. eager to make holes all around.. without measuring. Perhaps he wanted to make an artwork with your toilet?
