Renovation [day 21]

Two plumbers (they are brothers) came today to install the water and drain piping in both the toilet and kitchen. First, they fit the toilet cistern. Next, the water heater. My mother requested them to cover the electric wire for the heater with pipe.

The day before, my mother phoned the plumber (their father) to inquire about ways to mount the basin on the wall. He said he already had the solution. Surprisingly, both his sons had no idea about it. :S!!!

<- In the past, the basin was supported by 2 reinforcing rebar. The basin in the picture belongs to the toilet upstairs.

Consequently, my brother called his friend, a metalsmith to make 2 stainless steel mounting brackets. Astonishingly, the old plumber came in the afternoon with 2 antediluvian looking brackets. Maybe, they are more robust but #@?%!#. My brother had ordered new brackets and his friend

was working on them. Can you imagine how careless are these plumbers? Will they still charged the useless bracket into the bill? Usually, the bill only list the final amount.

The brackets were ready just in time, when they were about to leave. Luckily!! :P

The wash basin viewing from front. Do you notice the middle of the drain pipe is burned? The plumber joined the pipes by heating the pipe with fire. ->

They also installed the faucet and the drain piping for the dish basin in the kitchen. No trap was installed. Will this cause a problem? Traps are used to prevent sewage gas from coming up through the drain.

Meanwhile, the manor was tiling the edge at the front of the benchtop. It seem like an endless job and required plenty of grinding and polishin. He even skipped his lunch break. The sharp edge should be curved or else would be quite injurious.

<- The wall facing inside the benchtop was not yet tiled. Beneath the benchtop appeared to be quite dark when taken without flash.

The floor under the benchtop should be higher than the ground. A day

earlier, the metalsmith who is hired to install the cabinet under the bench came. A little argument between him and the constructor. The constructor insisted to rise the floor only after the frame

installation for supporting the cabinet door. I supposed both ways can do, but the best would be completing the floor first. Finally, the constructor agreed with the metalsmith.

At last, the whole edge is finished with tiles.

It was outrageous to find out that the join of the pipes are dripping water. Luckily, we noticed it earlier. My mother had phoned the plumber to fix the problem but he is busy.

Water was dripping from the joins of the valve (to the cistern) and the tap.
